Meet Amity

Hi there and thank you so much for visiting my little space; I’m so blessed to have you! My prayer for you is that you leave here feeling inspired, motivated, and loved.

I write to you from hot and humid state of Louisiana. Although I’m originally from Kentucky, I have a love/hate relationship with the south. I call the PNW home and if you have ever been, I bet you understand. The beautiful mountains; the cool, crisp, cloudy days; the perfect coffee. Oh, my heart! Although my soul longs to be out west, I am embracing the present and am trusting God with the path He has lied ahead of me.

Speaking of God, He is my number one! After living for myself for far too long I decided it was time to make a change. I gave my life to Christ on April 29, 2018 and have not looked back. In addition to being a Christian, I am also a homeschooling mama of three and a wife to a man in uniform. When I’m not blogging, you can either find me at a local coffee shop with my laptop, a book, and an iced coffee; or at my local military chapel where I volunteer for the women’s ministry, Protestant Women of the Chapel (PWOC).

I love to eat! Hi, I’m Amity and I’m addicted to food. Really though, I love food. I’ll try anything once and I love experimenting with unique flavor and texture combinations. Although I love food, I strive to keep my options healthy. I have a passion for baking but as I’m sure you know, baking and healthy eating don’t exactly go hand-in-hand. That’s why I have made it my personal mission to re-create traditional dishes, including baked goodies, and give them a healthy twist. Our bodies are temples, after all, and we should take the utmost care of them. Would you allow filth to accumulate in God’s temple? If not, then why allow it in yours?

Sweet reader, I have a question for you. Where is the one place you go to truly feel yourself? Your safe haven? Mine: my garage gym! There are few things more satisfying than getting in a good sweat session in the summer heat. Fitness is another way I bring myself closer to the Lord. The feeling of being uncomfortable. The ache of burning muscles. The salty sweat burning my eyes. These are all feelings Jesus encountered; so when I go through this, although much different from His experience, I am reminded of Him and what He has done for me. I will share some of my physical and mental tips for exercising, as well as ways I try to keep my focus on the Lord during trying times.

Something about me: I did a triathlon once. Something else about me: I’m not a swimmer. My version of swimming includes a pink float and an adult beverage. But, there I was, signed up and training for a triathlon. I use the word “training” loosely, as I would basically go to the pool where my husband worked, do a few laps, and then spend the rest of my afternoon sunbathing. Well, as you could imagine, during said triathlon I was a ball of nerves. A hot mess. I’m not even sure how I worked up enough courage to get into the water, if I’m being completely honest. After swimming for what felt like eternity, my thoughts began getting the best of me. My muscles began to fatigue and I started doubting myself. Then I prayed. I set my eyes on Jesus and in that exact moment, God’s calm washed over me, my fear was completely erased, and I finished. I finished the race with God by my side. And really, isn’t that our ultimate goal?

My hope for this blog is to not only provide an opportunity for you to grow closer to the Lord, but to also show you that no matter where you are in your health journey, with Christ by your side, all things are possible. I would love for you to join me on a mission to seek God while striving to live a healthy life.

Women of God are strong.
Women of God are resilient.
Women of God are unstoppable.
I want you to be unstoppable with me!

As I pray over you, precious reader, please know I am so grateful for you. I can only pray you find exactly what you are longing for, right here with me and Jesus.
