    Daily Expectations Chart

One of the most important thing we can do, as mamas, is to instill confidence and independence into our children. They should know, at even a young age, they are capable and strong; that their help is valuable and they are important. When my third baby was born, I quickly realized how challenging it would be to keep up on everything around the house while my husband was working. Between daily tasks and picking up after my two older kids; it was too much. I needed a way to hold my two older kids accountable for the tasks I knew they were capable of doing, while also creating a sense of accomplishment at the end of the day. Each chart contains the following: Get dressedBrush…

10 Ways to Help in the Midst of Coronavirus

In light of the current events happening globally, I felt compelled to share ways in which we can help each other and ourselves not only be more successful and but to also feel extremely loved. As moms and Christians, we know it is our job to spread the Word of God, but what we tend to forget is that we are also called to live as Jesus lived. We are called to be like Him; to be kind and gentle-hearted, to be givers not takers, speakers of encouragement and wisdom. We are to show love and grace, just as he so lovingly extended grace upon us. During these difficult times, there are some things we can do to not only help ourselves but to also…

    The Absolute Best Chicken Salad

Something I told myself years ago, after searching for recipes time and time again, is that if I were to ever publish one of my own, I wouldn’t discuss my whole life story and leave the recipe all alone at the bottom of the page. I spend way too much time scrolling past the blogger’s hard work as I am panicking to find the one remaining ingredient, all while my kitchen is one glance away from exploding or burning down or boiling over, which is my specialty. I’ll keep this short and sweet. This recipe is by the award winning chef, Jean Yves Vendeville, who is the Culinary Arts Instructor at Savannah Technical College. I had the privilege of attending a cooking class held by…

    An Opportunity with no Limits

Do you ever get that nagging feeling in the pit of your stomach, like you know you need to do something but you just aren’t quite sure why or how or what the outcome would be? That was me before I became a Presenter with Younique. I knew I wanted something more for myself, I just wasn’t sure at the time what exactly that was. My husband was deployed, I had a newborn, I was homeschooling my son, I was a volunteer; how on earth would I have time for one more thing? Then, at the end of my crazy-hectic day, I would get on Facebook and see my friend walk me through her daily makeup routine. At first, I thought it was entertaining. I…

    Leap of Faith

Hi, friends! As I begin to get back into the rhythm of blogging after way too much time off, I felt the need to go back to the beginning. Where it all began: My very first blog post. For me, this was a huge leap of faith. I had no idea how to build a website or what to even write about. I wasn’t sure if anyone would read or care or even give me the time of day when I told them about my new endeavor. This is the post where I felt the Lord calling me to put it all out there. The post where I had no idea what I was doing or how I would do it. Though there were so…

My Correlation Between Physical Health and Infertility

I accepted Christ into my heart in April of this year and have yet to look back. Since being saved, I have plunged head-first into the Christian lifestyle   I have read countless Bible studies. I have volunteered for a local women’s ministry. I have begun a blog. I have read Scripture daily. Though spiritually I am doing great, if I’m being completely honest, physically I am not. My website is Barbells and Blessings, after all, and yet I haven’t picked up a barbell in weeks. Spiritual health is extremely important but physical health and self-care are also. If you know me and my story, you know I have a difficult time getting pregnant. It is only by God’s good grace that I have the…

Preparing our Hearts for the Holidays

Autumn is upon us and it is incredible! Not because of the typical pumpkin spice and apple cinnamon everything — although those things are wonderful — but because this season is so special! It is special to me because this is the season when I began dating my husband and when both of my children were born, but it’s also special because this is the time we, as Christians, can prepare our hearts for the upcoming Holiday season. Whether it be the stress of unexpected guests or the anxiety of hosting large gatherings; the Holidays can be overwhelming. When I think of the upcoming season, I immediately think of the story of Martha and Mary. To summarize, Luke 10:38-42 goes into the story of Mary…

Must-Have Equipment for your Home Gym

As I prepare to begin sharing my workouts, I thought it would be appropriate to show you the equipment I have in my garage gym. Personally, I prefer to work out at home vs. a fitness center. There is absolutely nothing wrong with exercising at a fitness center and I actually have a gym membership that I utilize for fitness classes and long cardio sessions while binge watching Netflix (don’t judge me!!), but as a mom of two toddlers, I need the flexibility of being able to work out at home and not having to worry about finding a sitter or placing my kids in childcare. There is also something so incredibly satisfying about exercising in the southern Georgia heat. The extra sweat that a…
